One of the things that we feel it is important to do here at CDN is to periodically evaluate our publications and see if there are areas where we can expand coverage to put more information in the hands of dealers and collectors. As we have said in the past, we firmly believe increased access to information, especially price information, leads to a more confident buyer and brings in new collectors. One of the major projects that we have initiated in this regard is to expand pricing for grades that we do not publish in print, for example XF45, AU53, AU55, MS61, MS62, MS67. We are methodically working on these prices across the entire series. In most cases, there is not room for these price columns in our printed sheets, however they are available on our website in retail (CPG) format and in Greysheet/Bluesheet tabs for current subscribers.

One topic that we have been discussing and thinking about lately is this publication (the Bluesheet) and its future. It can be very useful for those who understand what it reports and know how to apply it when buying and selling coins, but it is used by a small number of people relative to the Greysheet. In order to both make its use more widespread and also more helpful, we have been evaluating the contents of what we report each week. We are committed to this publication but we also feel it could cover more contemporary needs, like CAC pricing, modern coin pricing (like the ASE’s we now publish in PCGS/NGC 69/70 grades).

Among the question we have asked ourselves: Are certain series necessary to list? Should we move CAC pricing from the Greysheet to the Bluesheet? How important are sight-unseen prices in today’s coin market? We would like to hear thoughts on these topics from our readers, which can be sent to editor@greysheet.com.

THIS WEEK’S MARKET

We have quite a few pricing updates this week, as we have now had the chance to view the full results of the many auction sessions from the ANA World’s Fair of Money. One series in particular to review is Mercury dimes. There had been relatively few sold at auction this year prior to August, but the ANA sales contained many, with mixed results. Some very scarce coins sold for surprising numbers, once again showing the sensitivity buyers have to accurate grading. We also have updates in Classic Commems, Morgan dollars, and Buffalo nickels.

Our next Bluesheet edition will be mailed with the September Monthly Supplement with an updated price analysis on better date Lincoln cents, matte proof coinage, SLQ’s, Washington quarters, Walkers and more.
