Sports Briefs: Extra Innings With Ken Burns

Sometimes we are sitting on a gold mine without even realizing it. With the economy still trying to pick up making ends meet could be difficult, and finding extra money for your day to day expenses is not such an easy task. People try to save money, but after paying bills and other expenses there is nothing left to save. However, there are everyday stuff we have in our basements, attics or in storage that we do not remember and could be worth a lot of money. Below are some items that you could have sitting around gathering dust that could put some money in your pocket.

Again, if you are selling these yourself use the tools available to you. Get delivery confirmation on every card you ship, if the card is high dollar use insurance as well. This assures you protect yourself, not just from scam artists on line, but from disaster striking from the post office or carrier you select. Bottom line, this is going to be a business and you should treat it as such.

Lay each of the buing baseball cards Lake Panasoffkee flat on your work area in the state you wish them to appear upward. (You might want some cards to show the front and some to show the back.) Spray each card with an even coat of Krylon Crystal Clear Acrylic Spray to prevent any color bleeding. Dry completely and repeat for two more coats. Let the cards set overnight.

The game itself was great but I also thought it was cool that my box of Cracker Jacks came with a baseball card inside. Nevermind that I hadn’t hear of the player before, I was very much into collecting vintage hockey cards at the time and the thought of having a card you could only find in a Cracker Jack box intrigued me. Then, it happened. Late in the game a foul ball went into the first-base dugout, and one of the players tossed it up over the dugout. A mad scramble ensued for the ball but like a magnet my hand went straight to the ball. Amid a few disappointing sighs from other kids around me I held the ball in triumph as my dad said, “We can try to get a few autographs after the game.” I wanted nothing more.

But I seem to be getting better at it. At Opus Fantasy Arts Festival last weekend, a vendor was there looking at our CDs. Vendors were feeling the economic blow. Sales weren’t good.

It’s a fact of life: our beloved dogs and cats get sick and need medicine just as we do. The business concept with PetMed Express is straight forward, though Wall Street may be ignoring this debt-free company with $3 a share in cash. The shares currently Vintage baseball cards yield

South Pass City, Wyoming is a journey back in time to the Old West and the Gold Rush days. When planning a trip, plan to be there for the whole day because aside from a lot to see, it is a great place to relax for a picnic with the whole family.

Bert “Pig Iron” Corbeau is not a well-known name. Yet, Corbeau’s 1923-24 V145-1 #25 hockey card is the most valuable hockey card in the world. Corbeau had a ten year NHL career with the Montreal Canadiens, Hamilton Tigers and Toronto St. Pats (predecessor to the Maple Leafs) from 1917-18 to 1926-27. He was part of the Montreal Canadiens first Stanley Cup winning team, the first player to play for both Montreal and Toronto during his career and the first player to record 100 penalty minutes in one season. Corbeau’s rookie card from 1923-24 is valued at $20,000 but expect to pay much more if one can be found for sale.
