Noted coin expert and numismatic author Scott Travers was at the American Numismatic Association (ANA) World’s Fair of Money in Philadelphia and we at CDN Publishing were there, too, offering the new Monthly Greysheet and signing up many new subscribers for our various publications. For months, we and Travers had been wanting to sit down together for a podcast interview and thought it a serendipitous opportunity to do so at the ANA show in Philly. So, that we did, and the lively conversation was enlightening, educational, and – yes – entertaining!
CDN Publisher John Feigenbaum conducted the wide-reaching 22-minute interview with Travers, who talked about a range of topics include the state of the coin market today, bouncing bullion prices, third-party coin-grading standards, long-term performance of certain rare coins over the last few decades, some of the best buys around today, and rhodium. Yes… Rhodium. Travers says rhodium is one of the better bullion buys out there lately, and he elucidates some details on the exceptional returns the industrial metal has offered those who have invested in the silvery-white precious commodity.
Scott Travers entered the numismatic spotlight in 1978, when the ANA awarded the teenaged collector with the “Outstanding Young Numismatist” award. In 1984 he authored one of his most famous books, The Coin Collector’s Survival Manual, which is now published in its seventh revised edition. He’s penned many other titles and has appeared in countless television and radio spots sharing the good news of our hobby and providing his expert advice to millions. Most recently, he serves as “The Money Connoisseur” blogger for Bottom Line.
At CDN Publishing, we love interviewing coin experts such as Travers so we can provide the numismatic world with exceptional informational and educational content and serve the industry with in-depth market coverage and hobby insight. In addition to our interview with Travers at the ANA World’s Fair of Money, we have recently interviewed many other numismatic luminaries, including Mark Salzberg of Numismatic Guaranty Corporation, Jim Halperin of Heritage Auctions, John Albanese of Certified Acceptance Corporation, and many others.
